Happy New Year's Eve…Up at 5:00am for free breakfast here also. But this was included with the travel agency. After eating we loaded onto buses and were off to the float viewing of some of the Rose Parade floats. It's neat watching the volunteers attach thousands of flowers to each float. We took lots of pictures and just drank in all the festive activities around us.
We bused up and headed north to the Santa Monica Pier where there was an Ohio State Pep Rally. There were so many Buckeye fans there and more arriving all the time. Ran into another couple from Marion, the Deans that own Norton Sporting Goods. The pep rally featured Archie Griffin, President E. Gordon Gee, Coach Tressel and the Best Damn Band in the Land. We stood for a long time waiting for the rally to start while beach balls floated back and forth above our heads. After the rally it was back on the buses to our home base.
Alice and I walked a couple city blocks to the Stick and Stein for supper. We met two couples from Hicksville, Ohio the night before when they invited us into their room for rum and cokes and they joined us for supper. The food wasn't very good but the beer was ok. Walking back we stopped at a Ralph's store where I bought a quart of beer to ring in the New Year. At 9:00pm California time, Alice and I watched the ball drop in New York City on TV. After kisses we went to sleep to be ready for the early day tomorrow.
I set my cell phone alarm thinking of the three hour time change. I never changed the time on the phone, just kept converting the time in my head. The alarm went off and I woke up Alice who got in the shower. The next thing I knew, Alice was yelling at me about being up at 1:00 in the morning. Instead four am, it was one! Oops!!
